Safe Use Questions
Q: Can I re-use pen needles?
A: Pen needles are designed for single use only, and are clearly labeled as such. Today's pen needles are thin, delicate, and silicone coated for greater comfort so pen needle reuse can damage the tip and cause injury. For your safety as well as your comfort, please use each needle only once.
Q: Can I use Clickfine pen needles to inject someone else?
A: Clickfine pen needles are designed for self-injection only. Never handle someone else's pen needle. To avoid accidental needle sticks, which can transmit serious infections, never recap, remove or destroy a pen needle that has been used by someone else.
Q: How do I safely remove and dispose of Clickfine pen needles?
A: Carefully replace the outer protective cap on the used pen needle and unscrew the pen needle. Dispose of it according to your physician's or pharmacist's advice. Never handle someone else's pen needle. To avoid needle sticks that can transmit serious infections, never recap, remove, or destroy a pen needle that has been used by someone else.
Be Prepared for a Low
If you inject insulin, you are likely to experience hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Correcting hypoglycemia immediately is important. So, carry glucose tablets with you wherever you go to be prepared to correct a low. Glucose tablets act quickly, are pre-measured, have no fat or caffeine, and are the preferred way to correct lows according to the American Diabetes Association.
