One of CanAm Care's most valued resources is our Advisory Board, a network of recognized and respected leaders in diabetes care from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. With their diversity in health and diabetes fields and extensive knowledge, they provide feedback and input to guide CanAm Care as we go forward in our mission to respond to patient needs, provide the most up-to-date products, and deliver value and quality at all times.

Gary Arsham, MD, PhD, FACP
A physician/educator specializing in patient education and health behavior, Gary Arsham has served as a member of the national Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association and as a national officer and board member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators. Co-author of Diabetes: A Guide to Living Well, and 101 Tips for Coping with Diabetes, Dr. Arsham has also been active in the Diabetes Coalition of California since its inception, serving as vice-chair of the Guidelines Committee and recently as Treasurer.
Sheri Colberg, PhD, FACSM
An expert on exercise and diabetes, Dr. Sheri R. Colberg is an exercise physiologist and associate professor of exercise science at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, and adjunct professor of internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. She brings to her work the expertise of 20 years' experience as a diabetes professional and her 40 years of personal experience as a person with type 1 diabetes. A prolific author, she has written more than 175 articles and eight books on exercise and diabetes, as well as a biweekly column for DiabetesInControl.com. Dr. Colberg also serves on the advisory boards of Diabetes Health magazine and dLife, and is a member of the Board of Directors of DESA (Diabetes Exercise & Sports Association).
Suzanne Ghiloni, BSN, RN, CDE
Suzanne Ghiloni is an Advanced Practice Diabetes Specialist who has been a diabetes educator at the Joslin Clinic for over 25 years specializing in pregnancy and pump therapy. Ms. Ghiloni is the lead educator at the Joslin Clinic/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Diabetes and Pregnancy Program. She has been a Co-Investigator to several studies including areas such as Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Diabetes and Pregnancy. Ms. Ghiloni is published in Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics and Diabetes Forecast as well as being an accomplished public speaker on cutting edge Diabetes topics. She recently became executive director of the Lifelong Exercise Institute.
John T. (Tommy) Johnson, Pharm D., BC-ADM, CDE, FAADE
Tommy Johnson is Chair and Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy where he lectures on diabetes. His clinical practice locations include an indigent clinic where he provides diabetes education for worksite wellness programs. He has served as Director of Professional Affairs for the Georgia Pharmacy Association, overseeing the delivery of the APhA Diabetes and Cardiovascular Ten City Challenge program, and has also served hospitals as a diabetes coordinator. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, most recently as 2nd Vice President.
Mary Nametka, MSN, RN,CWS, CWCN, FACCWS, FNP-BC
Mary Nametka has over 35 years of experience in family and community nursing, with almost 20 of those years dedicated to wound care treatment, consultation and education. She is an Advanced Practice board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Wound Care Specialist, and is the Wound Care Program Coordinator at the Seattle Veteran’s Administration. Ms. Nametka has published numerous professional articles on wound care and nursing, and is on the editorial board of Today's Wound Clinic, a leading wound care journal. She has helped develop practice guidelines for the field, and recently helped organize a national wound care conference for federal healthcare providers.
Amy Tenderich, MA
Journalist, book author and Health 2.0 expert, Amy Tenderich is based in San Francisco, CA. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2003, Ms. Tenderich launched DiabetesMine.com to serve as "a gold mine of straight talk and encouragement for people living with diabetes." Her site is now considered the best-read diabetes blog in the country, ranks in the Top 10 of the World’s Top Blogs in Health & Medicine on the HealthCare100 Index, and has won Ms. Tendrich the LillyforLife Achievement AwardTM for diabetes journalism. Ms. Tenderich is also Community Manager of a new social networking site for people with diabetes called DiabeticConnect.com. She recently collaborated with Dr. Richard Jackson, a leading physician from Joslin Diabetes Center, to co-author the book, "Know Your Numbers, Outlive Your Diabetes"
Donna Tomky, MSN, RN, ANP-C, CDE
Donna Tomky is a Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, Diabetes Educator, and Informatics Specialist in the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes for ABQ Health Partners in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She brings to her work more than 25 years of experience in diabetes education and clinical management and has lived successfully with Type 1 diabetes for over 30 years. She is the current treasurer of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (2008-2010), and has begun her Presidential track as President-Elect 2010 and President 2011. Recently, Ms. Tomky co-led a delegation of diabetes educators to China for the "People to People Ambassador Program."
Hope Warshaw, MMSc, RD, CDE, BC-ADM
Hope Warshaw, nationally recognized dietitian and diabetes educator, applies more than 30 years of experience and expertise to her work as an author and freelance writer, diabetes educator and consultant, and media spokesperson. Ms. Warshaw has authored numerous books and consumer articles. She is the author of several bestselling books published by American Diabetes Association including: Real Life Guide to Diabetes, Diabetes Meal Planning Made Easy and Guide to Healthy Restaurant Eating. She is a contributing editor and on the advisory board of Diabetic Living (Better Homes & Garden's). Professional articles she has authored have appeared in Diabetes Care, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, The Diabetes Educator and others.
